On January 26, in Tbilisi, an employee of the State Security Service’s Anti-Corruption Agency was found dead.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the deceased had sustained a gunshot wound.
“An Anti-Corruption Agency employee was found this morning in their car with a gunshot wound. During the inspection of the scene, a firearm, which the deceased had with them, and a note, found on the passenger seat, were recovered,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The identity of the deceased is not yet known.
According to the State Security Service, the employee arrived at work in the morning and was later found dead in their vehicle.
“What is currently known and confirmed by our staff is that the employee arrived at work early in the morning, apparently took a firearm, left the premises, and was later found dead in their car,” the State Security Service told the government-affiliated channel Rustavi 2.
A criminal investigation has been opened under Article 115 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to incitement to suicide.
